NANS 2026: ICPC Begins Screening of Aspirants in Abuja; Releases Mandatory Guidelines

 The NANS Independent Convention Planning Committee (ICPC) has officially kicked off the screening process in Abuja, releasing strict guidelines and requirements for all national aspirants ahead of the 2026 Convention.

​The Independent Convention Planning Committee (ICPC) of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has officially commenced the screening process for all aspirants contesting in the 2026 National Convention.

​Following a high-level meeting in Abuja on Monday, April 13, 2026, the Screening Committee, chaired by Okereafor Bestman, outlined the following mandatory modalities to ensure a transparent and credible election:

  • Daily Schedule: Screening will commence daily at 10:00 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Physical Appearance: All aspirants must appear in person before the panel.
  • Documentation: Aspirants are required to bring original copies of their credentials, ten (10) photocopies of each document, and their evidence of intention forms.
  • Media Coverage: To ensure total transparency, the Media Sub-Committee will have representatives present to document the entire exercise.

​Speaking during the session, Chairman Okereafor Bestman urged committee members to approach their duties with integrity, stressing the importance of delivering a fair and thorough screening.



​The ICPC leadership further emphasized that the exercise will be guided by 'strict adherence to the NANS constitution and established guidelines.' This phase is considered the most critical part of the electoral process, as only qualified aspirants cleared by this panel will be eligible to contest for national offices at the Abuja convention.
