Former President Olusegun Obasanjo Celebrates 89th Birthday with Thanksgiving Service

Nigeria’s elder statesman and former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, marked his 89th birthday today with a grand thanksgiving service, surrounded by family, friends, and political associates.

The celebration, captured in viral clips across social media, highlighted the enduring influence of the man popularly known as "Baba," who served as Nigeria's military Head of State and later as a two-term democratically elected President.

​The event was a vibrant display of gratitude, featuring traditional hymns and heartfelt prayers for the former leader's continued health and wisdom. Dressed in traditional attire, Obasanjo was seen participating in the cake-cutting ceremony, a moment that symbolized nearly nine decades of a life dedicated to national service and international diplomacy.

​In the same vein, the 89th birthday celebration serves as a reminder of Obasanjo's significant role in shaping modern Nigeria.
