Just days after clearing the polls in a historic landslide, NANS National President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, has issued his very first major directive, tackling the security of Nigerian students head-on.

Taking to his official platform under the authority of the Seal of the NANS President, Babatee zeroed in on the ongoing security crisis in Oyo State, where gunmen recently attacked schools in the Orire Local Government Area, holding dozens of students and teachers hostage.
"The continuous hostage of the kidnapped students and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State is unacceptable," Babatee stated firmly. "The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) will storm Oyo State with all its structures in the coming days to demand the immediate release of our students and teachers."
The bold move gives student stakeholders a clear taste of what to expect from Babatee’s administration. Known for his tactical background as the former 2023/2024 NANS Senate President, he is wasting no time using the weight of the apex student body to put pressure on both state authorities and security agencies.
For everyday Nigerian students, this aggressive stance on campus security sends a reassuring message that the newly elected administration values action over empty celebratory speeches. As the deadline approaches, all eyes are now on Oyo State and the NANS leadership to see how this high-stakes intervention unfolds.
