NANS 2026 Convention: 242 SUG Presidents Accredited as May 10 Deadline Approaches

 The race for the NANS 2026 National Convention has entered a high-velocity phase. With 242 SUG Presidents already successfully verified on the official portal, the Office of the Assistant Secretary General (ASG) has issued a final warning: the accreditation window closes on May 10, 2026. In line with the NANS Constitution, there will be no extensions—failing to register means no participation.

Following the recent cleanup of "infractions" in the registration system, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has released its latest progress report regarding the upcoming National Convention. As of April 26, 2026, the official accreditation portal shows a high level of engagement, with 242 student leaders across Nigeria’s various institutions already cleared to participate. This surge in registration reflects a growing readiness among campus leaders to engage in the democratic process and ensures that the transition of leadership remains on track.

​The Assistant Secretary General, Comr. Adejuwon Emmanuel Olatunji, has reminded all stakeholders that this accreditation process is a mandatory constitutional requirement rather than an optional exercise. Citing Article 15, Sub-section 5 (b & c) of the NANS Constitution and Charter of Demand, he emphasized that only delegates who are duly registered and verified will be recognized at the convention ground. This strict adherence to the constitution ensures that the final delegate list ratified by the Senate consists only of legitimate student representatives.

​To maintain this momentum, NANS has set a firm accreditation deadline for May 10, 2026, with a clear warning that there will be no further extensions or excuses for late registration. All remaining SUG Presidents who have not yet registered are advised to immediately obtain their unique access codes directly from the Office of the Assistant Secretary General. Once these codes are secured, they must complete their registration through the official NANS CPC accreditation portal to secure their spot in the forthcoming proceedings.

​In a major step toward total transparency, the national body has also made the list of registered delegates available for public visibility and scrutiny. Stakeholders can now monitor the progress of their respective institutions in real-time by visiting the official delegate tracking link provided by the committee. This open access is designed to prevent the registration of unauthorized individuals and ensures that every name on the list is a verified leader of their student body.

​The message from NANS Headquarters remains firm: "No Accreditation = No Participation". This uncompromising stance is intended to eliminate the last-minute chaos and "mercenary" delegate issues that have frequently plagued previous national conventions. For the 242 presidents who have already secured their accreditation, the path to the convention is now clear, while for the remaining leaders, the clock is officially ticking toward the final May 10 cutoff.
