'Justice for Sacrifice’ — Comr. Joseph Onah Appeals to Governor Nwifuru for Hon. Chinedu Awo’s Reinstatement in Ohaukwu North

In a passionate appeal to the Ebonyi State Government, Comrade Joseph Onah has called for the reinstatement of Hon. Chinedu Awo to the Ohaukwu North State Constituency seat. Arguing that Awo sacrificed his position in the interest of peace during the Effium crisis, Onah urges Governor Francis Nwifuru to honor that loyalty or allow a democratic contest between Awo and the incumbent, Hon. Esther Agwu.

'The political landscape is often a testament to the delicate balance between leadership, sacrifice, and public trust. In Ebonyi State, the case of Hon. Awo Chinedu , former member representing Ohaukwu North State Constituency, stands out as a poignant example. During the regrettable crisis in the Effium community, Hon. Awo was called upon by the government to step down from his position a directive he obeyed without hesitation in the interest of peace and stability. This act of statesmanship and respect for authority saw him relinquish his seat to Hon. Mrs. Esther Agwu, demonstrating a profound commitment to the greater good over personal ambition.

Now that peace has been restored to Effium, thanks in part to the dedicated efforts of our God-given Governor, the Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru , there is a growing call for justice and the honoring of promises. The constituents of Ohaukwu North and well-meaning observers are urging the government to consider reinstating Hon. Chinedu Awo to complete his tenure in the House of Assembly. Such a gesture would not only be a just reward for his obedience and sacrifice but would also send a powerful message to the public that the government values and reciprocates loyalty, thereby strengthening the social contract and encouraging citizens to always heed official directives.

We extend our profound gratitude to Governor Nwifuru for his pivotal role in bringing lasting peace to Ezza-Effium, a feat that has ushered in a new era of hope and development. Building on this foundation of trust and goodwill, we respectfully appeal to His Excellency to consider this matter as an opportunity to further solidify the people's faith in their government. Honoring Hon. Awo's sacrifice by allowing him to complete his mandate would be widely seen as an act of fairness and principled leadership, reinforcing the governor's reputation as a leader who listens and does what is right.

In the spirit of fairness and democratic principles, should there be any question regarding the will of the people, we also propose a straightforward resolution, let Hon. Chinedu Awo and the incumbent, Hon. Esther Agwu, test their popularity and legitimacy at the field. Let them both go to the constituents in a democratic contest, and the people of Ohaukwu North will decisively indicate whom they truly want to represent them. This would be the ultimate democratic solution, ensuring that the voice of the people is not just heard but is the final authority in determining their representative, thereby closing this chapter with transparency and honor.'

Comr. Joseph Onah
