No more "Oke Ite!: See the moment Akwa Okuko’s "Mighty Shrine" was set ablaze as the law finally catches up with the Celebrity Native Doctor!

Akwa Okuku Residence

The reign of "celebrity" native doctor Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, has officially met a fiery end! Just hours after a High Court in Awka sentenced the flamboyant spiritualist to 11 months in prison, his massive shrine in Oba, Idemili South LGA, was reduced to a pile of burning debris.

In accordance with the judgment delivered by Justice Jude Obiora on Friday, February 27, 2026, operatives of the state security outfit, “Agunechemba,” stormed the residence to carry out a "surgical operation" against fetish criminality. The court didn't just jail him; it specifically ordered the complete destruction of his shrine and the confiscation of all ritual materials.

The Scene at the Oba Residence:

  • The "Big Pot" is Gone: The notorious "Oke Ite" (the Big Pot), which was allegedly used to "fortify" criminals and provide spiritual cover for gunmen, was collected and publicly burned.
  • A Pile of Fetish Items: Native pots, moulded images, photographs of individuals, and various charms were dismantled piece by piece before being set ablaze.
  • Legacy in Ruins: What was once a place of "power" and wealth-seeking rituals is now nothing but smoke and ash, as the state sends a final warning to traditionalists aiding insecurity.

According to the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, this wasn't an attack on tradition but a crackdown on "criminality disguised as religion".

What do you guys think? Is this the end of the "Money Ritual" era in Anambra, or will another "celebrity" native doctor take his place?
