Ebonyi State Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru has taken bold and immediate action against leaders in the Amasiri community, Afikpo Local Government Area, following a brutal land dispute that led to killings and destruction.

In a strong statement during his on-the-spot visit to the scene of the attack in Okporojo community, Oso Edda, Edda LGA, the governor directed the immediate sack of all political appointees from Amasiri—including commissioners and management committee members—and the dethronement of traditional rulers (monarchs) in the area.

The decision came after a violent clash where at least four people were reportedly beheaded, with heads taken away, and properties destroyed in the renewed communal crisis between Amasiri and their neighbors.

Governor Nwifuru, addressing the crowd, made his position crystal clear on accountability and peace restoration.

"The traditional ruler’s certificate of office is thereby withdrawn.
All the government appointees from Amasiri are thereby sacked.
All government appointees from the management committee
down to the commissioner, anyone from Amasiri,
are hereby sacked with immediate effect."

He further ordered the dissolution of all town union leaderships, community development unions, and the removal of village heads across Amasiri autonomous community. Certificates of recognition for the monarchs have been invalidated, signaling a complete leadership overhaul in the affected area.

This crackdown underscores the governor's commitment to ending cycles of violence and ensuring leaders bear responsibility when communal harmony breaks down. The affected individuals are to hand over government properties immediately.
