EEDC Announces Emergency Load Management Across South-East

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has informed its customers of an emergency load management schedule currently affecting several states in the South-East. According to an official public notice released on Thursday, February 12, 2026, the disruption is due to a technical fault recorded on the Mando-Shiroro transmission line.

​As a direct consequence of the fault, the National Control Centre (NCC) in Oshogbo has directed the EEDC to maintain a significantly reduced power allocation. The company revealed it is currently restricted to only 44MW on the Onitsha/New Haven 330kV line, alongside minimal allocations of 10MW and 11MW for the Ugwuaji and Apir Transmission Stations respectively.

​Major Areas and Subsidiaries Affected

​The power shortage is impacting a wide range of communities served by EEDC’s subsidiary companies, including MainPower, FirstPower, and EastLand. Key locations experiencing the load management include:

• ​Anambra State: Awada, Agu-Awka, and Nibo.
• ​Enugu State: New Haven and surrounding areas.
• ​Ebonyi State: Nkalagu, Abakaliki, and other neighboring districts.

​"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our customers and appeal for their understanding," stated Emeka Ezeh, the Group Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC. He further assured the public that all relevant stakeholders are working collectively to clear the fault and restore normal supply to the affected regions.
