Strong and Alive:Goodluck Johnathan Reaffirms PDP Resilience

Former President Good luck Jonathan who received party delegates, members of National Working Committee, NWC which was led by the National Chairman, Dr. Kabiru Turaki, SAN, at his private office in Abuja on Tuesday 6th January, 2026 remarked that the party is strong and alive.

 This remark is coming at a time when the party has been hit by massive defection from the party members to the ruling party. 

The agenda of the meeting which was focused on unifying the fragmented house and rebuilding it's competitive edge ahead of 2027 general election.

During the closed-door session, the former President further emphasized that for the reconciliation to be effective, every member must be ready to make personal sacrifices for the greater good of the party. He stressed that the PDP’s history of resilience is its greatest asset, urging the NWC to prioritize "grassroots healing" rather than just top-level agreements.

Dr. Kabiru Turaki, in his response, assured the former President that the new leadership is committed to an inclusive "all-hands-on-deck" approach. He noted that the visit to Jonathan was a strategic move to tap into his experience in conflict resolution, especially as the party looks to stem the tide of defections. As the delegates left the Abuja office, the mood was one of renewed optimism, with the party leadership signaling that more high-level consultations with founding fathers are scheduled for the coming weeks to solidify the 2027 roadmap
