"We Have Never Recorded Any Kidnapping Case": Governor Nwifuru Declares Ebonyi the Safest State in Nigeria

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has made a bold and sweeping declaration regarding the state of security under his administration. Speaking to a high-profile delegation of national editors and journalists in Abakaliki, Nwifuru proudly announced that Ebonyi has not recorded a single case of kidnapping since he took the oath of office, challenging anyone to dig into the records and prove otherwise.

​The claims were made over the weekend as Governor Nwifuru officially welcomed more than 50 veteran editors and journalists to the state capital. The media team arrived in Ebonyi to kick off the second round of the high-profile Presidential Media Tour of Projects across the South-East geopolitical zone—an initiative organized by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team.

​While addressing the visiting press, Nwifuru wasted no time in highlighting the peace and stability enjoyed by residents, using the moment to assure the media personnel that they could move around freely without a single worry.

​"This is the safest place in this country," Governor Nwifuru stated confidently. "Since I became governor, we have never recorded any kidnapping case. You can make your search and find out. Even at midnight, you can move anywhere."

​The governor explained that this clean sheet in security is the direct result of heavy financial investments in the state's security architecture, alongside maintaining a watertight, daily collaboration with grassroots community leaders and federal security agencies.

​Beyond security, Governor Nwifuru urged the national media team to thoroughly inspect the state with an open mind and judge his administration based purely on the physical evidence on the ground. He promised that the level of development across the state's rural and urban areas would leave them pleasantly shocked.

​According to the governor, his administration has ensured that no local government area or community is left behind, particularly regarding massive road networks. Nwifuru noted that any area the journalists visit will feature at least five ongoing or completed projects, with the minimum road intervention measuring between 10 to 22 kilometers.
