Doris Ogala Distances Self from VDM-Sowore Rift, Insists Governorship Bid Is Her Decision

Nollywood actress and AAC Governorship Candidate for Abia State 2027, Doris Ogala has publicly distanced herself from the controversy surrounding social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.

In a statement shared on social media, Ogala reacted to allegations suggesting that she was being positioned by certain political interests to challenge the incumbent governor of Abia State in a future election.

Addressing the claims directly, she stated that her decision to contest for governor was entirely personal and not influenced by any individual or political figure.

According to her, she possesses the independence of thought and character to make her own political decisions and should not be viewed as anyone's political project.

Ogala acknowledged the support she had received from VDM in the past, expressing appreciation for his role during difficult moments in her life. However, she noted that she preferred peace and understanding over conflict and misunderstanding.

"I choose peace over chaos," she stated.

Clarifying her relationship with Omoyele Sowore, Ogala revealed that the activist was unaware that she had obtained the African Action Congress (AAC) nomination form until they both attended a vetting class session.

She further disclosed that after publicly declaring her intention to run, she neither met nor spoke with Sowore again until they encountered each other in court.

The actress maintained that these facts should put to rest speculations that her political ambition was orchestrated or sponsored by external interests.

Beyond addressing the controversy, Ogala used the opportunity to call for unity among opposition voices and reform-minded Nigerians.

She urged all parties involved to put aside their differences and work together toward what she described as the common objective of ending the dominance of individuals and groups responsible for the country's political and governance challenges.

Appealing for calm, she called on supporters of both camps to avoid further hostility and instead focus on the larger struggle for political change.
