​The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has stirred fresh conversation across the political landscape following his remarks at the 8th All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention held in Abuja on Friday. Speaking to a crowd of party faithful and delegates, Akpabio maintained that despite the significant milestones achieved by the current administration, Nigerians have not yet seen the full potential of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. He suggested that while many leaders possess 'sight,' very few have the "vision" required to transform a nation under difficult circumstances.

​Akpabio used the platform to praise the President’s resilience, tracing his political journey from the 1980s to the formation of the APC. According to the Senate President, Tinubu is successfully translating his vision into reality by bringing dignity back to Nigeria on the global stage. He pointed to several bold reforms as evidence of good governance, including the removal of the fuel subsidy, the harmonization of exchange rates, and the revolutionary changes currently being implemented in the education sector through student loan opportunities.

​In his address, Akpabio also highlighted major infrastructure completions, such as the Lagos-Ibadan and Ajaokuta rail lines, as well as the commencement of the Niger Delta coastal road project. He assured the President of the 'unalloyed support' of the 10th National Assembly, emphasizing that legislative alignment is crucial for the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda. The Senate President further noted the party's growing dominance, evidenced by the increase in the number of APC governors across the country.

​The convention also saw remarks from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, who described the administration’s reforms as a 'necessity over convenience.' Abbas argued that the inherited economy required difficult choices to fix and called for continuity beyond the present term to ensure the foundations being laid are fully built upon.
