Digital Healthcare Revolution: National Assembly Commends Abia as Governor Otti Launches E-Health Project

The Abia State Government has reached a historic milestone in its governance reforms with the official launch of the Abia Electronic Health (E-Health) Project, a flagship initiative designed to migrate the state's healthcare delivery from analogue, paper-based records to a fully digitized system. This digital transformation was unveiled following a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, where the administration’s drive to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem was further solidified.
More so, the project—implemented in partnership with E-Health and Life-Health Hubs—is set to integrate telemedicine and other technology-driven solutions aimed at enhancing efficiency and deepening universal health coverage, particularly at the primary healthcare level.

However, the impact of these reforms has already gained significant federal attention, as the National Assembly recently placed Abia State under a positive national spotlight. Following a comprehensive oversight visit, the House of Representatives Committee on Health Services, led by Hon. Dr. Amos Malaji, rated the state’s health sector reforms as "excellent". This high-level endorsement serves as a major validation of Governor Otti’s measurable achievements in improving primary healthcare delivery and ensuring quality care for all residents. Consequently, the National Assembly’s commendation underscores the growing federal relevance of Abia's governance model as a benchmark for the rest of the country.

In addition to the digital leap, the state has also announced the formal rollout of a statewide Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign, which was flagged off earlier on Tuesday by the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti. This crucial health intervention targets children between the ages of 9 months and 14 years and is being conducted across all Primary Health Centres, schools, and health facilities statewide. By combining cutting-edge digital infrastructure with proactive public health campaigns, the Otti administration is effectively repositioning Abia as a leader in modern healthcare and community protection.
